Saban Sacks Linebacker After Cocaine Arrest
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Alabama football coach Nick Saban has dismissed linebacker Jimmy Johns from the team following the player's arrest on felony cocaine charges.
Police said he sold cocaine to students on and around campus. Investigators said undercover officers purchased cocaine from Johns five times in the last 1½ weeks.
Saban announced the decision in a brief statement issued shortly after Johns' arrest... More after the break
on Tuesday. The coach said the alleged behavior won't be tolerated and Johns is no longer on the football team.
Police arrested Johns on multiple felony charges after what they describe as an investigation that lasted about two months. Authorities say there is no indication that any other players were involved.
Johns, a linebacker, is in jail with bond set at $120,000.
