Oxford, MS (Sports Network) - Jevan Snead completed 14-of-19 passes for 213 yards and four touchdowns to lead 25th-ranked Ole Miss to a 45-0 rout of arch- rival Mississippi State at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in the 81st edition of the Battle for the Golden Egg,

The Rebels (8-4, 5-3 SEC) have now won five straight since bowing to South Carolina and Alabama in back-to-back games by a total of just 11 points.

Ole Miss back Dexter McCluster gained 68 yards and scored once on nine carries. Shay Hodge contributed seven catches for 89 yards with a score and Mike Wallace had two touchdowns on four receptions and 105 yards.

The Bulldogs (4-8, 2-6) finished with minus-51 yards rushing thanks to 10 Ole Miss sacks, and had just 88 yards through the air. Ole Miss outgained Mississippi State 461-37.

Ole Miss needed just five plays to drive 76 yards on its opening possession. The Rebels got on the board first with a 36-yard run by McCluster with 12:40 to play in the first quarter.

On the their next possession the Rebels took a 10-0 lead on a Joshua Shene field goal from 43 yards out with 8:08 left in the opening quarter.

Ole Miss quickly built its advantage to 17-0 after Ashlee Palmer intercepted the Bulldogs' Tyson Lee at the Rebels' 46-yard line. Hodge scored on a 10-yard pass from Snead with 4:31 remaining.

Wesley Carroll, replacing an injured Lee, came in at quarterback for the Bulldogs, but gave back the ball on a pass intercepted by lineman Jerrell Powe with 2:29 left in the first quarter. Ole Miss converted on the drive with a 17-yard touchdown pass from Snead to Wallace with 36 seconds remaining in the opening quarter.

Mississippi State failed to take advantage of an interception of a Snead pass by linebacker Karlin Brown, who returned it 20 yards to the Ole Miss 45 with 13:22 left in the first half. Lee was injured on the possession and again was replaced by Carroll.

The lone score of the second quarter came on a 72-yard pass from Snead to Wallace with 42 seconds to play in the half, making it 31-0.

After holding Mississippi State on the third quarter's opening drive, Ole Miss got on the board with a one-yard pass from Snead to tight end Bradley Sowell.

The Rebels increased their lead to 45-0 with 12:18 to play in the fourth on a Brandon Bolden 24-yard touchdown run.

Game Notes

The all-time series between these two rivals leans in favor of Ole Miss at 60-39-6 thanks to five wins in the last seven meetings...Lee completed 5-of-9 passes for 49 yards and an interception, while Carroll threw for 26 yards and a pick on 3-of-13 passing.
