This game was originally slated for September 13, but the contest had to be postponed because of Hurricane Ike.
The Longhorns took a 3-0 lead on their first possession of the game. The team had the ball at the Arkansas 40, but were only able to move it 23 yards and Hunter Lawrence stepped in to hit a 34-yard field goal less than four minutes in.
Arkansas got into scoring position on its next drive, but Alex Tejada's 44- yard field goal attempt went wide right.
Texas extended its lead on the ensuing drive. A methodical 11-play, 73-yard drive that took 5:28 was capped on a eight-yard touchdown pass from McCoy to Shipley for a 10-0 lead with 4:28 left in the first.
After a three-and-out from the Razorbacks, the Longhorns used a drive that spanned the first and second quarters and made it a 17-0 game on Cody Johnson's one-yard touchdown run less than a minute into the second.
Arkansas got on the board on its next touch, as the team marched 72 yards down to the Texas 13, settling for a 30-yard field goal from Shay Haddock to make it a 17-3 game.
Texas got a 32-yard kickoff return from Quan Cosby to start its next possession and, four plays later, McCoy ran the ball down the left sideline and got into the end zone on a 35-yard score for a 24-3 lead with a bit over eight minutes left in the first half.
The Longhorns weren't done scoring in the first half, though. With the Razorbacks holding the ball at their own 26, Dick fumbled the ball as he was sacked and Texas recovered at the Razorbacks 20-yard line. Five plays later, McCoy took the ball into the end zone from five yards out on a quarterback sneak to make it a 31-3 game going into the locker room.
Texas continued to pour it on in the second half as the team started the final 30 minutes with the ball. The team needed just eight plays and a little over three minutes to take a 38-3 lead as McCoy hit Cosby near the goalline and he stretched it in for a 13-yard score.
After holding Arkansas to a three-and-out, the Longhorns again took the ball into the end zone. On 3rd-and-5 at the Arkansas six-yard line, McCoy found Shipley in the right corner of the end zone for a 45-3 lead
Texas' defense got in on the scoring in the fourth quarter as Aaron Williams returned an interception 81 yards untouched into the end zone with 9:31 to play for a 52-3 lead.
The Razorbacks got their only touchdown of the game late in the fourth quarter, and it came from their defense. With Texas holding the ball deep in Arkansas territory, John Chiles fumbled the ball and it was recovered by Antwain Robinson, who rumbled into the end zone from 80 yards out to make it a 52-10 game with 2:20 to play.
