Tigers Struggle On Ground in Loss to Ole Miss

Oxford, MS (Sports Network) - Jevan Snead tossed a couple of touchdown passes to help lead the Ole Miss Rebels to a 17-7 win over the Auburn Tigers in SEC action at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.

Snead connected on 15-of-30 passing for the Rebels (5-4, 3-3 SEC) for 140 yards in the team's second consecutive victory. Cordera Eason chipped in a game-high 104 yards rushing on 14 attempts as well.

The Tigers (4-5, 2-4), losers of four straight and five of the last six after beginning the 2008 campaign with three consecutive victories, were led by Kodi Burns who converted 27-of-43 for 319 yards, but failed to throw a touchdown and was picked off three times.

Following a scoreless first quarter, Joshua Shene put Ole Miss on the board with a 34-yard field goal. Later in the frame the Rebels made the score 10-0, thanks to a two-yard TD pass from Snead to Shay Hodge.

Auburn's only score of the day was the result of a 27-yard touchdown run by Ben Tate, making the score 10-7 with 13:21 to play in the third frame. Tate finished the day with just 35 yards on five carries, the Tigers overall had a mere 75 yards rushing on 25 attempts.

Snead's three-yard touchdown pass to Derrick Davis in the fourth quarter capped a 12-play, 66-yard drive which ate up more than five and a half minutes and put the game out of reach.

While Auburn struggled on the ground, the Rebels rolled up 233 yards on 41 attempts.
