Wildcats Hold Cross-state Rival to 15 Yards In the Air...Outch!

Lexington, KY- Mike Hartline passed for 172 yards and a touchdown and the Kentucky Wildcats stopped the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers, 41-3, in a non-conference clash at Commonwealth Stadium.
Hartline completed 19-of-30 tosses for Kentucky (4-0), which extended its win streak to 13 games against non-conference foes. Alfonso Smith paced the ground attack, which gained 216 yards, with 67 yards and a score on six carries. Tony Dixon also got into the mix with 45 yards and two touchdowns on 13 attempts.
For WKU (2-3), Bobby Rainey accounted for a majority of the offense with 99 rushing yards on nine carries. As a team, the Hilltoppers managed just 157 total yards in the loss.
A 45-yard field goal by Kentucky's Ryan Tydlacka accounted for the only points of the opening quarter.
Early in the second period, the Wildcats extended their lead behind a one-yard touchdown plunge by Dixon.
Tanner Siewert hit a 50-yard field goal late in the second quarter to put WKU on the board.
Kentucky, however, responded immediately, as Derrick Locke took the ensuing kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown and a 17-3 lead at the break.
Less than two minutes into the second half, Kentucky struck behind a 35-yard touchdown run by Smith.
The Wildcats added to their lead late in the third period when Moncell Allen hauled in a two-yard touchdown pass from Hartline.
Dixon scored on a two-yard run early in the fourth quarter and Tydlacka added a 33-yard field goal later on, as Kentucky captured the 41-3 win.
Kentucky held WKU to just 15 passing yards and only eight first downs, while recording four sacks.
