Third Alabama Football Player Arrested
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - A third University of Alabama football player was arrested on misdemeanor charges stemming from an early Saturday morning altercation outside a bar just off campus.
Defensive lineman Brandon Fanney, a redshirt sophomore, was arrested outside "The Legacy," a bar along an area known as "the strip." Fanney, 21, was released on $300 bond.
It was reported earlier that lineman Brandon Deaderick and running back Roy Upchurch, also redshirt sophomores, were arrested during the incident.
Deaderick, 19, was charged with criminal mischief, resisting arrest and giving a false name, and was released on $1,500 bond. Upchurch, 22, was also released on $300 bond.
The arrests of the three players are the first under new Alabama Coach Nick Saban.
Doug Walker, Alabama's associate athletic director for media relations, said the university had no comment on the matter. He said Saban was out of town until Saturday and wouldn't be available for comment until next week.
